Sorry this is brief for now but wanted to quickly have these dates online for you to refer to:
November 23, 1-3 pm Zumba Autism fundraiser at 24-hour fitness in Santa Rosa. AMAZING lineup of instructors, including Santa Rosa’s own Rauly Duenas, who has organized this event.
November 30, 9-10:30 am Tina and Leticia’s 90 minute Turkey Burn at Fitness Fanatics Martial Arts Studio in Santa Rosa. This one is just for fun!
December 1, 4-6 pm: Fundraiser for Typhoon Haiyan relief. Zumba and Ujam at the House of Gerardo in Santa Rosa. My favorite Filipina beauty Ruth Taylor is bringing us together to raise cash to donate.
That’s all for now. Gotta run to class! Thank you for supporting these causes.
Today’s Google doodle celebrates salsa legend Celia Cruz. We are currently using Rie y Llora as our attitude- filled cha cha cha. The lyrics tells us:
Sorry about the late notice but dance/music ensemble Sol Flamenco is performing at Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol tonight at 7 pm.
I am one of the few lucky ones that knows if one stays after Zumba class at the Airport Club and pulls just the right kind of song up on ones iPod, Cha Cha Dave’s ears will perk up and he will invite anyone within proximity for a dance.
I adore Cuban music and have 2 Celia Cruz songs in the playlist right now: “Yo Vivire” (I Will Survive), and “Rie y Llora” (Laugh and Cry). These are both from her last album Regalo del Alma, which received both the Latin Grammy and Grammy awards for best salsa album of 2003. She was in her 70’s. I love her voice in these later songs.
