Family Fun Night at Sheppard School in Santa Rosa

Last night, I did a Zumba demonstration with friends and fellow SoCo Zumba Instructors Juan Martinez and Patricia Carreno.  The Family Fun Night was sponsored by the Network for A Healthy California and had booths featuring Sonoma County Family YMCA, Northern California Center for Well-Being, Redwood Empire Food Bank, CalServes, and Children’s Power Play.   We weren’t expecting so many kids there so we quickly adjusted our song choices on the fly and had a great time doing Zumba with kids and adults alike.  A very enthusiastic group!

Here’s Patricia tearing it up with the boys.  They absolutely loved it.

I talked to a nutritionist there and expressed my frustration at the huge amount of nutrition information out there.  She said they often just simplify the message to:  Eat LOTS of fruits and vegetables.  I think those are good words to live by!  I’m enjoying delicious pink grapefruit these days and I see the price of blueberries is starting to go down.  I’ve never had a problem eating fruits.  It’s veggies that I still have to learn to love.

The new session of Santa Rosa Recreation and Parks classes starts next week!  Looking forward to it!
